Making Management Simpler

EBCS makes management simpler by using the Insata tools to deliver manageability. The implementation process creates little or no disruption; it starts from whatever point the business is currently at. There is no giant step, change is quick and incremental. The implementation would typically happen over a two to three month period and has three distinct phases.

The process starts by looking at how the corporate objectives are deployed across the management structure. This involves tracking the central objectives down to the front line managers to understand what each manager is required to deliver. This is mapped in Insata, together with a very brief headline strategy, so that the feedback each manager requires can be clarified and any alignment issues can be identified at the outset. When the exercise is complete, the mapping is reviewed with management to ensure that it is representative and to establish whether further clarification or points of detail may be required.

The data available from existing systems is then reviewed. This part of the process is used to establish two things; firstly how the data could be used to provide the most appropriate feedback and, secondly, how it could be assembled in the background to track performance against each of the identified objectives. This tracking is integrated up and down the management structure so that the impact on the individual manager’s operational performance is always reflected all the way up to the relevant corporate objective. The data structures required to provide the feedback and measurement from the available data are then assembled.

The final part of the process provides the management environment for each individual manager and creates the control and visibility to support the overall management effort. The incorporation of Insata into the ongoing operational review structure is agreed and the rollout targets are established. This stage also includes facilitation sessions to help fine tune the combination of feedback, review and process so that the desired change is achieved quickly and smoothly.
